Zoho People Pricing in India (2026): Plans, Add-Ons and What You Actually Pay

Zoho People is one of the cheapest serious HRMS options in India — but the plan you need is rarely the one you first look at. Here's what each tier unlocks and what the real annual bill looks like.

Zoho People is priced low enough that most HR teams assume the entry plan will do. It usually won't — the features that made you shortlist an HRMS in the first place, like attendance capture or appraisals, sit two tiers up. This guide walks through what each plan actually unlocks, what a realistic annual bill looks like for an Indian company, and where the extra costs hide.

The plans, and what each one unlocks

Zoho People is sold per employee, per month. The tiers are cumulative — each includes everything below it — and the jumps are defined by capability groups rather than by user counts.

PlanIndicative India price (per employee / month, annual billing)What it adds
Essential HR≈ ₹50Employee database, leave management, documents, onboarding, basic shift setup, self-service
Professional≈ ₹100Attendance tracking and regularisation, overtime, biometric integration, timesheets, shift rotation, IP restrictions
Premium≈ ₹165Appraisals, 360-degree feedback, OKRs, compensation management, custom reports
Enterprise≈ ₹230HR help desk (cases), LMS, sandbox, advanced automation and deeper customisation

Prices are indicative for 2026, billed annually and before 18% GST; monthly billing costs roughly 20% more. Zoho revises pricing and moves features between tiers periodically — verify current rates and plan inclusions on Zoho's official Zoho People pricing page before you budget.

There is also a free tier for very small teams (around five employees) covering basic HR records and leave. It is genuinely usable for a founding team, but it has no attendance capture and no appraisal cycle, so it stops being enough the moment you have shift staff or a review process.

Which plan do most Indian companies actually land on?

In the implementations we run, the answer clusters around two tiers depending on workforce type:

  • Professional — for any company with hourly, shift or field staff, because biometric integration, regularisation and overtime live here. If you have a factory floor, a retail roster or a services team billing timesheets, Essential HR will not survive month one
  • Premium — for office-heavy companies running formal appraisal cycles, goals or OKRs. If HR's mandate includes performance, this is your floor, not Professional
  • Enterprise — for companies that want the HR help desk, an internal LMS for compliance training, or a sandbox to test configuration changes before they hit live payroll data

The common budgeting mistake is pricing Essential HR, getting approval, and then discovering mid-implementation that attendance requires Professional. On a 100-person company that is a jump from roughly ₹60,000 to ₹1,20,000 a year before GST — not painful, but awkward to re-approve. Price the tier that matches your actual scope, not the cheapest one.

What a real annual bill looks like

Take a 120-employee Indian manufacturer on Professional, billed annually. That is roughly ₹100 × 120 × 12 ≈ ₹1,44,000 a year, or about ₹1,70,000 with 18% GST. Move the same company to Premium for appraisals and it becomes roughly ₹2,38,000 a year before GST. Both are modest against the cost of a single HR coordinator doing the same work in spreadsheets — which is generally the honest comparison to make, rather than benchmarking against other software.

Two structural details affect the number. Every paid plan bills a five-user minimum, which only matters for very small teams. And licences are counted per employee in the system, not per active user — so contractors and consultants you track in Zoho People count toward the bill.

The costs that sit outside the licence

Zoho People's sticker price is not the project cost. Budget for these separately:

  • Zoho Payroll — a separate product with its own per-employee pricing. Zoho People handles attendance and leave; Payroll handles salary processing, PF, ESI, TDS and payslips. You need both for an end-to-end Indian HR stack
  • Zoho Recruit — hiring and applicant tracking is also a separate licence, not part of Zoho People
  • Biometric device integration — the connector is included at Professional and above, but getting existing devices to push clean data reliably is configuration work, and older devices sometimes need a middleware layer
  • Implementation — policy configuration, leave accrual rules, shift patterns, approval hierarchies and historical data import. This is where an Indian deployment gets its complexity, because leave and attendance policy is rarely as simple as HR describes it in the first meeting
  • Zoho One — if you also need CRM, Books and the rest, the bundle (around ₹1,500 per employee per month, billed annually, before GST) includes Zoho People. For a company running four or more Zoho apps that is frequently cheaper than stacking individual licences

Where Zoho People is strong, and where it isn't

It is strong on Indian statutory reality — leave types, attendance regularisation, shift handling and the handoff into Zoho Payroll for PF, ESI and TDS are built for this market rather than localised as an afterthought. It is strong on price: at Professional it costs a fraction of most competing HRMS platforms without cutting the features Indian teams actually use daily.

It is weaker where you want deep, opinionated performance management — the appraisal module is capable but generic, and companies with unusual review models often end up bending their process to fit. Reporting is adequate but not analytical; teams wanting real workforce analytics tend to push data into Zoho Analytics. And the interface, while much improved, still assumes an administrator who understands the configuration model.

Our take

Budget Professional as your baseline unless you are a purely salaried office with no attendance requirement, and treat Premium as the tier you grow into when performance reviews become formal. Add Zoho Payroll as a line item from day one rather than as a phase two surprise. As a certified Zoho partner, most of the value we add here isn't the licensing conversation — it's turning a company's actual leave and attendance policy into rules that hold up at month-end close.

Frequently asked questions

Does Zoho People include payroll?

No. Zoho Payroll is a separate product with its own per-employee pricing, though it integrates tightly with Zoho People so attendance, leave and loss-of-pay flow into salary processing automatically. Budget for both if you need end-to-end Indian payroll with PF, ESI and TDS.

Which Zoho People plan do I need for attendance and biometric integration?

Professional. Attendance tracking, regularisation, overtime, timesheets, shift rotation and biometric device integration all start at the Professional tier — Essential HR covers records, leave and onboarding only. Confirm current plan inclusions on Zoho's official pricing page, as features move between tiers.

Is Zoho People included in Zoho One?

Yes. Zoho People is part of the Zoho One bundle, which is priced per employee per month. If you already hold Zoho One licences you may not need separate Zoho People subscriptions — check your existing entitlement before buying standalone, and note that Zoho Payroll is licensed separately in India.
